????

After months of not knowing how to create images that got though my subject of learning about science. I finally feel as though it's getting somewhere. These images above are rough ideas of creating illustrations of discoveries and theories. (Although my latest work has focused on human anatomy.) We will see where my final collection ends up.

FRAGMENTING

I love using a cut out to frame images to see them with a big white border, it some how brings them to life. Especially when you can't quite tell what is happening like in these. I have not put a copyright on them as the image is not mine but one taken from Times Travel Magazine (January 2009). I'm not clear on copyright when it comes to making images with found images.

FIBRE BASED PRINTING

I went to an printing workshop, so I took a negative (not the best one) and gave it a go. It creates some interesting effects and I learnt that it works best with negatives that would look good being printed with warm tone, as not all images look right with warm tones. I'm still learning.

WALES
(AND EXETER!)

Some course mates and I went to a photo book fair and symposium in Cardiff last weekend. Both the book and symposium were simply fantastic. The whole weekend turned into quite the adventure. The book fair was at the Turner House Gallery in Penarth in the suburbs of Cardiff. After the book fair we ventured down to the pier for pizza and chips. The symposium was in the centre of Cardiff. I waited my course mates in the sunshine outside at the castle after I had spend the night at YHA cardiff. (note: you will get little sleep here on a night that wales wins the rugby!) Many publishes and photographers took part in the symposium and It was a privilege to hear the panel discussions and reviews. The drive home became interesting, when the car broke down outside Exeter and we stayed at a friends shack and drove home with a fixed car the next day. Here are some snap shots of the weekend. All taken on my Holga.
